Auto Repair UAE checks existing factory coating and rust before recommending local treatment, sedan or SUV undercoating, or cavity protection. Local work is estimated at AED 335–715; full coverage depends on the vehicle.

Undercoating prices in Dubai

These estimated AED ranges show the cost of common treatments; they are not fixed prices for every car. The displayed estimates are before VAT; 5% VAT is not included in the displayed prices. Your written payable quote lists the areas to be coated, cleaning and preparation, material, labor and exclusions before work begins.

TreatmentEstimated AEDWhat the range covers
Workshop inspectionFreeVisible accessible metal, old coating, rust and damage reviewed before selecting work.
Local protection335–715Selected prepared edges or scraped areas; extensive rust repair is separate.
Sedan undercoating855–1,525Normal preparation, masking and protective application to suitable underside areas.
SUV undercoating1,240–2,190Larger underside and wheel-arch areas; shields and off-road damage may add work.
Cavity rustproofing620–1,335Suitable seams and cavities treated with a corrosion inhibitor while drains remain open.
Failed-coating preparation430–1,145Cleaning and removal of loose material; metal repair is assessed separately.

Size, access, existing rust, old coating, drying time and product choice change the total. Sound factory protection may need only a local repair, or no new coating at all.

Match the treatment to the metal

Where should protection go?

Undercoating protects suitable exposed underside surfaces. Rustproofing can also reach seams and cavities with a compatible corrosion-inhibiting product. They serve different areas; adding the thickest material everywhere can hide damage, block drainage and make later service harder.

Dubai drivers may want an inspection after coastal exposure, standing water, underbody scraping, off-road use or older repairs. A clean newer vehicle with sound factory coating may only need inspection and a small local repair. We show you what needs attention before quoting coverage.

Exposed underside
Coating on suitable prepared floor-pan and wheel-arch surfaces where protection has worn or been damaged.
Seams and cavities
A suitable penetrating treatment where moisture can collect, with drain holes and access kept open.
Factory coating
Retain sound original material; repair local chips instead of automatically covering the whole underside.

Condition before application

When to inspect the underside

These conditions can change what should be cleaned, repaired or protected. Coating over wet or weakened metal is not a repair.

Older or imported cars

Previous coating, seam sealer and past repairs may hide corrosion. We review vulnerable joins and lifting material before choosing a product.

After off-road driving

Stones and underbody contact can expose metal around wheel arches, lower edges and shields. Local protection may be enough after cleaning.

Water or coastal exposure

Standing water, humidity and salt air matter most where a protective layer is already damaged. Drying and checking cavities come before spraying.

After body repairs

Work around sills, floor panels or wheel arches can disturb protection. Metal and seam repairs must be completed before compatible coating is restored.

From inspection to handover

Preparation before coating

Each job is tailored to the underside. We explain any required rust or metal repair and seek approval before adding work.

  1. 01

    Inspect the underside

Check accessible metal, existing coatings, leaks and damage.

  2. 02

    Choose the areas

Agree local, underside or cavity treatment and the areas left clear.

  3. 03

    Clean and prepare

Clean, dry and address loose material or treatable surface corrosion.

  4. 04

    Protect key components

Protect brakes, exhaust heat zones, drains, sensors and service points.

  5. 05

    Apply the coating

Use the selected material only on the agreed, suitable surfaces.

  6. 06

    Check the coverage

Check coverage and exclusions after the appropriate drying stage.

Application and drying time depend on the surface and material. We confirm the expected collection time after inspection instead of promising a fixed same-day turnaround.

The material has a purpose

Which product suits your car?

Coverage is only useful if the material suits the surface and leaves drainage and future access intact.

OptionSuitable useImportant limit
Resilient underbody coatingPrepared exposed underside or wheel-arch surfaces.Do not bury corrosion, drains, fasteners or inspection points.
Wax or cavity inhibitorCompatible seams and cavities that need a penetrating treatment.Drain openings and wiring access must remain clear.
Local coating repairChips and scraped areas beside sound factory protection. The new product must be compatible with the original finish.

We do not apply a universal material to every surface. Old products, oil contamination and deep rust may require separate preparation or repair before protection can bond properly.

Selective application

Undercoating EVs and hybrids

Electric and hybrid undersides may contain a traction-battery enclosure, high-voltage cables, cooling lines, vents, sensors and shields. We review the model and manufacturer restrictions before deciding whether a nearby metal surface can be treated.

If the battery area has suffered an impact, inspect the damage first. A protective coating cannot make a damaged enclosure safe.

Keep clear
Battery inspection points, vents, drains, warning labels and high-voltage identification.
Protect access
Do not cover fasteners, cooling parts, sensor faces or areas needed for future service.
Check the model
Product and application decisions depend on the vehicle layout and service instructions.

After treatment

Repair, recoat or leave intact?

Reinspect after a scrape or repair, and when you see chips, lifting, exposed metal or a new stain. The check looks at arches, seams, jacking areas, edges and previous repairs. Reapplying a full layer every year without looking underneath can hide damage.

Rustproofing is prevention. It does not restore a weakened sill, floor, subframe mount or other structural metal. If corrosion has reduced strength or perforated the metal, assess the body and collision repair options before adding protection.

Sound coating
Keep it and review it at future inspections; more material may add no benefit.
Local chip
Clean, prepare and repair the exposed area if the metal remains suitable.
Lifting material
Remove failed coating and inspect what lies below before recoating.
Deep or structural rust
Stop at a metal-repair decision. A black coating cannot replace lost steel.

Undercoating questions

What is the difference between undercoating and rustproofing?

Undercoating usually refers to a protective layer on suitable underside surfaces. Rustproofing can also include corrosion-inhibiting products for seams, cavities and exposed metal. The correct combination depends on vehicle construction, existing protection and condition.

Should existing rust be coated over?

No. Existing corrosion has to be assessed first. Loose surface rust may need preparation before protection is applied, while deep scaling, perforation or structural corrosion needs a repair decision. A coating should not be used to hide active damage.

Is undercoating useful in Dubai without winter road salt?

It can be useful for the right vehicle, but the reasons differ from cold climates. Coastal salt air, humidity, water exposure, underbody chips, off-road abrasion, older repairs and imported vehicles can all justify an inspection. Not every clean newer car needs a full aftermarket coating.

How often should undercoating be reapplied?

There is no responsible one-year rule for every vehicle and product. Reinspection should look for chips, lifting, abrasion, damaged seams and newly exposed metal. Recoat or repair only where the condition and product guidance justify it.

Can an electric car be undercoated?

Potentially, but the application has to respect the traction-battery enclosure, high-voltage cables, cooling, vents, sensors, drains and service access. The exact vehicle layout must be reviewed before product is applied.

How much does car undercoating cost in Dubai?

Local protection is estimated at AED 335–715 sedan undercoating at AED 855–1,525 and SUV undercoating at AED 1,240–2,190. Old coating, rust and extra preparation can raise the cost. We confirm the payable total after inspection.

How long does the work take?

Cleaning, drying and preparation vary with the surface and material. We confirm the estimated handover time after inspecting the underside and choosing the appropriate treatment.
