Chinese car brands in the UAE include BYD, Changan, Chery, Exeed, GAC Motor, Geely, Haval, Hongqi, Jetour, and MG. Choose between them by the exact model, powertrain, warranty, parts support, insurance, and total ownership cost. A long equipment list or low monthly payment cannot tell you whether a particular vehicle fits your life.
This guide compares ten brands without ranking them. Start with your passenger and parking needs, narrow the choice to two or three vehicles, then verify the VIN, written terms, and condition before paying a deposit.
- A drive-away price and, if financing, the total amount payable.
- The warranty booklet and confirmation that this VIN qualifies.
- A service schedule and a realistic parts-supply route.
- An insurance quote for the exact specification.
- An independent condition report, plus a workable charging plan for a plug-in vehicle.
Chinese car brands in the UAE and their current lineups
The official UAE pages below were checked on September 27, 2026. These are representative models listed on those pages, not an exhaustive market directory or a promise of showroom stock. A current website listing does not establish the price, specification, delivery date, or warranty of a particular car. Request a dated quotation that identifies the model year and trim.
| Brand | Examples on the UAE site | What to establish for your shortlist |
|---|---|---|
| BYD UAE | SEAL, SEALION 7, HAN; SONG PLUS, SEAL 6, SEAL 7, SEALION 5, ATTO 8, Ti7 and SHARK 6 Super Hybrid models | Battery electric or plug-in hybrid, charging routine, battery and vehicle warranty scope |
| Changan UAE | Alsvin, CS35 Plus, CS75 Plus, CS95, UNI-K, UNI-T and UNI-V | Exact engine and transmission, campaign status, equipment on the quoted grade |
| Chery UAE | Tiggo 4, 7, 7 Champion, 8 and 9; Arrizo 5; Tiggo and Arrizo Super Hybrid entries; HIMAVA | Petrol versus Super Hybrid version, seating layout, trim and service schedule |
| Exeed UAE | LX, MX, RX, VX, ES and ET | Petrol, PHEV, EV or range-extender variant where listed; support for its specific equipment |
| GAC Motor UAE | GS3 EMZOOM, GS4 Max, GS7, GS8, GS8 Traveller, GS8 Desert Raider, EMPOW, EMPOW R and M8 | Seat use, drivetrain and powertrain; collision parts and calibration support |
| Geely UAE | Monjaro, Cityray, Coolray, Preface, Okavango, Starray, Emgrand, EX5, EX5 EM-i and Geometry C | Generation, powertrain and trim, service history, software and parts access |
| Haval at GWM UAE | Jolion MAX, Jolion PRO, H9, H7, H6, H6GT and H6 Hybrid | Petrol or hybrid, driven wheels and intended use; separate Haval from other GWM badges |
| Hongqi UAE | H5, H9, H6, Ousado, HS3, HS5, HS7, EHS9 and Guoya in the site navigation | Availability of the exact model in your emirate, powertrain, equipment and aftersales provider |
| Jetour UAE | T2, Dashing, X90 Plus, X70 Plus and X70 FL | Actual seat configuration, cargo access, use restrictions and written warranty terms |
| MG UAE | MG 3, 4 EV, 5, 7, 8 PHEV, GT, HS, HS Hybrid+, ZS, RX9, ONE and Cyberster | Powertrain and market specification; avoid applying one model’s running costs to the whole badge |
The date records when these live pages were checked, not when every model was launched. The table covers the ten brands in this guide; it does not imply that other Chinese brands are unavailable in the UAE.
Build a shortlist around your daily use
Write down your annual kilometers, expected ownership period, passenger count, parking dimensions, and longest regular trip. Then separate requirements from preferences. A larger screen is a preference. Fitting two child seats and a stroller, or reaching work without an unreliable charging stop, is a requirement.
Test space with your own passengers and luggage
Bring the child seats you use and check the approved anchorage positions in the vehicle manual. Sit behind your normal driving position. Open the rear doors in a space similar to your parking bay. For a three-row vehicle, put the seats in the positions you will actually use and check the remaining luggage area.
Also test rear AC delivery, access for older passengers, tailgate clearance, and whether a swing-out rear door opens in your parking space. A large exterior or a seven-seat label does not answer these questions.

| Your situation | Prioritize | Do not pay extra until you verify |
|---|---|---|
| One car for daily family transport | Usable seating, rear cooling, service access, parts availability and replacement transport arrangements | That extra seats leave enough space for the people and luggage you carry |
| Apartment parking without a charger | Charging permission, access hours and a realistic weekly route; also compare petrol and non-plug-in hybrid options | That a plug-in vehicle works without adding inconvenient charging trips |
| High annual mileage | Energy use, time-based and distance-based service intervals, tire costs and mileage-limited warranty | That fuel savings exceed the price premium and additional ownership costs |
| Short ownership before resale | Purchase price, finance settlement terms and conservative resale scenarios | That a new-car discount leaves a better exit position than a suitable used alternative |
| Occasional desert or towing use | The exact model’s permitted use, drivetrain, payload, equipment and maintenance requirements | That styling, an SUV badge or a drive-mode button establishes capability |
What to check for each brand
The questions below are buying priorities, not claims that a brand has a particular defect. Use the linked lineup references above to identify a model, then apply the checks to the car offered to you.
BYD
BYD’s UAE range separates fully electric models such as SEAL and SEALION 7 from its Super Hybrid range. Decide which ownership routine you want before comparing equipment. A plug-in hybrid still has an engine and its associated maintenance; an EV needs a dependable charging plan.
Ask for the traction-battery warranty, the conditions for a capacity-related claim, thermal-system coverage, and the process if the car cannot charge. On a used vehicle, request a model-supported battery assessment and charging test. A dashboard range estimate alone is not a battery-health report.
Changan
The Alsvin, CS and UNI names cover different vehicles and grades. Use the written quotation to pin down the engine, transmission, safety equipment, and model year. A brochure for another grade does not prove what is fitted to your car.
For a used UNI-T, make the recall check below part of the purchase file. For every Changan, ask for maintenance records and campaign completion evidence by VIN. If there is a history of overheating or unresolved warnings, obtain a diagnosis before negotiating a price for repairs.
Chery
Compare the exact Tiggo or Arrizo version rather than treating the model family as one product. Chery’s UAE site lists both conventional and Super Hybrid entries, so confirm the powertrain and service schedule on the order form.
Families should test seating, rear cooling, low-speed response, phone pairing and parking visibility in the quoted trim. For a used car, include an all-supported-module scan and body inspection. A clear instrument panel does not establish that every module is fault-free or that previous accident repairs were completed correctly.
Exeed
Exeed’s UAE model page includes LX, MX, RX and VX alongside ES and ET. It distinguishes petrol, PHEV, EV and range-extender variants across the range. Verify the selected variant rather than assuming every model uses the same technology.
Make a list of the equipment actually fitted and operate it during the inspection: seats, climate zones, cameras, tailgate, keys and connected functions. If the car has more specialized suspension or electrified hardware, obtain a parts and diagnostic support answer for that system. Include those items in the insurance and warranty discussion.
GAC Motor
GAC’s UAE page lists sedans, SUVs and the M8 people carrier, including the GS7 plug-in hybrid. Compare the seating and powertrain you need before comparing trim levels. A family using every row has different requirements from a driver using the rear seats only occasionally.
Ask about replacement glass, lamps, bumpers and driver-assistance calibration after relevant repairs. Check the rear-seat layout, door clearance and luggage space in person. A detailed equipment list is useful only when the vehicle’s layout works in your normal parking and passenger routine.
Geely
Geely’s UAE listings span several sedan and SUV families, including EX5, EX5 EM-i and Geometry C. Match the generation and powertrain to the VIN, especially when comparing similarly named new and used listings.
Request the correct service schedule and ask which software, diagnostic and parts support applies to that specification. On a used example, verify warranty transfer and service records with the provider. During the drive, assess traffic creep, braking, steering, camera response and phone connectivity; do not substitute a review of another trim for your own checks.
Haval
The GWM UAE site lists Haval SUVs including Jolion variants, H6 variants, H7 and H9. It also displays other GWM products. Tank, Poer and Wingle listings should not be described as Haval models. Shared group ownership does not establish identical parts, warranty or service requirements.
Confirm driven wheels, hybrid specification where applicable, tire requirements and the maintenance schedule. If you plan sand driving or towing, obtain the exact model’s limits and warranty conditions. If your driving is entirely on paved roads, compare the running costs of capability you may never use.
Hongqi
Hongqi’s UAE site shows sedan and SUV names including H5, H9, HS5 and EHS9. Establish the exact model, available specification and service provider for your emirate before relying on a national brand presence.
For a premium purchase, compare replacement costs for the actual wheels, lamps, glass, electronics and fitted suspension systems. Test all powered equipment. For a used vehicle, request a realistic purchase offer from a dealer as a resale reference where possible. An online asking price or a large new-car discount is not evidence of what your car will sell for later.
Jetour
Jetour’s UAE homepage lists T2, Dashing, X90 Plus, X70 Plus and X70 FL. Compare seating configuration, rear-door operation and luggage space on the exact model. Do not assume that every SUV in the range has a third row or the same intended use.
Read the detailed warranty terms behind any headline and establish service obligations, mileage limits, exclusions and transfer rules. If you need the vehicle every day, ask how a backordered lamp, camera or body panel would be handled, including whether your contract provides replacement transport.
MG
MG’s UAE model page includes petrol models alongside HS Hybrid+, MG 8 PHEV, MG 4 EV and Cyberster. Treat these as different ownership propositions. A petrol sedan’s service quote will not explain the battery and charging checks needed for a used electric model.
Confirm whether the car was supplied for the UAE market and which provider will support its warranty and software. Compare safety and convenience equipment by trim. If a seller describes a vehicle simply as a “hybrid,” establish whether it plugs in and which maintenance requirements apply before estimating fuel and charging costs.
Changan UNI-T recall dates and the VIN check
The official UAE UNI-T recall notice covers production from January 12, 2022 through January 9, 2024. It concerns cooling-system control logic that may not perform optimally under certain conditions. The notice states that campaign repairs are free of charge.
Read the exact Changan UNI-T recall notice, checked September 27, 2026. It does not provide a public VIN-by-VIN result or prove that a particular car has completed the campaign.
Ask Changan UAE or Union Motors to confirm the VIN’s applicability, outstanding campaigns and completion record. A registration year or advertised model year is not the production date. A car within the date range may already have received the work; a date comparison alone cannot settle its status. Request the completion record before purchase. Check recalls for every shortlisted brand, not only Changan.
UAE-agent car, parallel import or used car
Separate who sold the vehicle from who promises to support it. A seller’s warranty, an insurer-backed product and a manufacturer’s local warranty can have different providers, limits and claim processes. Do not assume that a familiar badge or “GCC specs” in an advertisement settles eligibility.
| Purchase route | Evidence to collect | Reason to pause |
|---|---|---|
| New UAE-agent vehicle | Dated order form, VIN or allocation details, warranty start date, service plan, delivery inspection and promised accessories | The delivered trim or written inclusions differ from the quotation |
| Parallel or other-market import | Market specification, registration eligibility, written local warranty acceptance, parts access, software and charging compatibility | The seller relies on overseas coverage without identifying who handles a UAE claim |
| Used UAE vehicle | Identity and ownership records, service invoices, warranty transfer confirmation, history checks and independent inspection | Mileage, condition and records conflict, or inspection is refused |
A used car can reduce the purchase outlay, but add overdue service, immediate repairs, tires, fees and a repair reserve before comparing it with a new offer. A new car still needs a delivery check for specification, transport damage, keys, accessories, software and warning lights.
For an import, test the functions you will use, including language settings, maps, phone pairing, connected accounts and charging. Confirm that future support exists for that specification; a successful demonstration today does not prove that an overseas account or subscription will transfer.
Compare five-year ownership cost in AED
A monthly installment is a cash-flow figure, not the cost of owning the car. Compare vehicles over the same number of years and kilometers. Use the same assumptions for insurance, maintenance, energy and resale, then replace estimates with written quotes wherever possible.
Purchase cost + finance charges and fees + insurance and registration + fuel or electricity + service, tires and repairs + charging setup, if needed − resale proceeds.
If you start with the deposit plus every installment and any balloon payment, do not add the cash purchase price again. That would count the vehicle twice. Keep ongoing parking and toll costs in your household budget; include them in the comparison if the vehicle choice changes them.
A worked budget, not a market price or resale prediction
The following cash-purchase example shows the calculation for one unspecified vehicle kept for five years and driven 15,000 km per year. Every amount is an assumed planning input, not a brand quote, completed transaction, observed average or guaranteed resale value. Replace all figures with your own VAT-inclusive payable amounts where applicable.
| Budget item | Assumed amount | How to replace it with evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Drive-away purchase | AED 100,000 | Written cash quotation including applicable taxes and delivery fees |
| Insurance and registration over five years | AED 15,000 | Current insurance quote and registration charges, with an allowance for future changes |
| Fuel over 75,000 km | AED 18,000 | Assumed 8 L/100 km × 75,000 km × AED 3/L; the fuel price and consumption are examples |
| Scheduled service, wear and repair allowance | AED 12,000 | Service schedule, tire and brake quotes, condition report and repair reserve |
| Resale proceeds | Minus AED 45,000 | A conservative scenario informed by comparable vehicles and current purchase offers |
| Net five-year cost | AED 100,000 | AED 100,000 + 15,000 + 18,000 + 12,000 − 45,000 |
That example averages about AED 1,667 per month over 60 months. It is not a loan installment. If resale were AED 35,000 instead, the net cost would rise to AED 110,000, or about AED 1,833 per month. This sensitivity check shows why an uncertain exit value can matter as much as a fuel-saving claim.
For an EV, replace fuel with electricity purchased, including charging losses, and add any home-charger installation and public-charging fees. For a plug-in hybrid, budget both electricity and fuel for your expected use. Do not insert the lowest advertised fuel figure while assuming the battery will rarely be charged.
Compare the deal as well as the car
- Cash versus finance: request deposit, number of installments, total payable, fees, balloon payment and early-settlement terms.
- Included service: identify mileage and time limits, covered operations, consumables and exclusions. A service plan and a warranty are different products.
- Insurance: compare insured value, excess, repair network, parts terms, replacement transport and relevant exclusions using the actual policy wording.
- Resale: use a range. Listing prices are asking prices; purchase offers provide a different and often more useful reference for an immediate exit.
Read the warranty before paying a deposit

A warranty headline is not a promise that every part is covered for the same period. Obtain the booklet and identify the provider, start date, mileage limit, exclusions and claim process. Ask whether shorter limits apply to particular systems, wear items or replacement parts.
For a used car, have the provider confirm remaining coverage and transfer conditions for the VIN. For an import, ask specifically whether local support accepts that market specification. Keep the reply with the sales paperwork.
Do not assume that warranty means free servicing, free diagnostics in every situation, or a courtesy car while a part is unavailable. Those points need their own written terms.
- Are diagnosis, labor, programming, fluids and towing included in an accepted claim?
- What time and kilometer intervals apply to maintenance, and what records are required?
- What conditions apply to independent servicing and replacement parts?
- Does battery coverage address failure, capacity loss, or both, and how is eligibility assessed?
- What changes with commercial use, modifications, towing, accident damage or water exposure?
- Who authorizes work, and what happens if a covered part is backordered?
Ask about parts that can keep the car off the road
A nearby showroom and an available oil filter do not establish a complete repair path. Ask the parts department or service provider to identify items for the exact VIN. Separate routine stock from special orders and ask for a current lead-time estimate, recognizing that supply can change.
| Parts group | Examples to ask about | Why it changes the decision |
|---|---|---|
| Routine maintenance | Filters, correct fluids, brake pads, tires and low-voltage battery | Defines scheduled running costs and accessible service options |
| Collision repairs | Windscreen, lamps, bumper, mirror and body panels | A minor impact may require parts beyond normal service stock |
| Electronics | Camera, radar, screen, key and control module | Replacement may also require programming or calibration under the manufacturer’s procedure |
| Electrified systems | Charge port, charging hardware, thermal-system parts and battery repair support | Requires the right information, equipment and trained personnel for that model |
Ask who performs diagnosis, programming and calibration, rather than accepting “we service all brands” as proof of coverage. Our Chinese car repair directory separates workshop support by make. Use the service schedule and the scope in our Dubai car service cost guide to build a maintenance budget, then obtain a model-specific quote.
If this will be your only car, budget for downtime as well as repairs. Establish whether replacement transport is included in a warranty, service arrangement or insurance policy. Do not treat a verbal assurance as a guaranteed benefit.
EV and hybrid checks for UAE ownership
Check parking and charging first
A battery electric vehicle runs on stored electricity. A plug-in hybrid combines an externally rechargeable battery with an engine. A non-plug-in hybrid does not need routine external charging. A range-extender vehicle also has an engine-based electricity source; confirm its operation and maintenance requirements for the exact model.
For a plug-in vehicle, establish where you can charge regularly, whether the building permits installation, what electrical work is required and who approves it. Have a qualified installer assess the site. Do not improvise an extension-lead charging arrangement.

If relying on public charging, check connector compatibility, access restrictions, payment setup and the time available on your actual route. Have a fallback for a charger that is occupied or unavailable. The station’s advertised maximum power is not a promise that your car will receive it throughout a session.
Separate advertised range from your journey
Ask which test cycle supports the advertised range and whether the figure combines electricity and fuel. Speed, traffic, temperature, AC use, load, tires and battery condition can change the result. Plan the longest regular journey with a sensible charging margin instead of treating the largest brochure number as a guaranteed UAE distance.
For a used EV or plug-in hybrid, request a supported battery-health assessment, fault scan, charge test and inspection of the underbody and thermal system. Ask what the report actually measures and what it cannot establish. Do not open a battery pack, touch high-voltage connections or treat a clean scan as proof of future battery life. These checks belong with trained personnel following the manufacturer’s procedures.
Test-drive and inspection checklist
The purpose of an inspection is to establish the condition of the exact vehicle, identify further tests and price known work. It cannot guarantee that no hidden or future fault exists. Agree the inspection scope before booking, especially for imported specifications and electrified models.

Before the drive
- Match the VIN, registration, quoted trim, production details and powertrain.
- Review service invoices, campaign records and previous repair information.
- Ask to see a cold start, or the normal EV startup sequence, and record warning messages.
- Check tire condition, visible damage, keys, lights and cabin functions.
Do not open a hot cooling system or perform checks that require contact with live electrical equipment.
During the drive
On a legal, safe route, assess low-speed response, gear engagement where applicable, steering, braking, vibration, noise and AC delivery. Try your normal parking maneuver and phone connection. Observe driver-assistance alerts, but do not deliberately trigger emergency braking or rely on assistance systems to control the vehicle.
After the drive and in the workshop
Have a technician inspect the structure, underbody, leaks, suspension, brakes, tires and signs of accident or water damage. Use supported diagnostics across relevant modules and document any further testing required. For electrified vehicles, confirm that the agreed battery and charging checks were completed.
Request a report separating observed defects, suspected causes, recommended tests and estimated work. A fault code is evidence for diagnosis, not automatic permission to replace a component. The Dubai pre-purchase inspection checklist explains how to assess the scope of a buyer’s report.
Proceed, pause or walk away
| Decision | Evidence | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Proceed with the purchase process | Identity and terms match, costs fit, support is confirmed, and inspection findings are acceptable | Record agreed repairs and inclusions in writing; complete normal transfer and payment checks |
| Pause and resolve | Warranty transfer, campaign completion, a fault, charging access or a parts quote remains uncertain | Get the missing evidence before committing nonrefundable money |
| Walk away from this vehicle | Seller refuses independent inspection, identity conflicts remain unexplained, or required support cannot be established | Compare another vehicle instead of trying to price an unknown risk with a small discount |
Cosmetic wear with a clear repair estimate can be a negotiating point. Unresolved structural damage, signs of water exposure, high-voltage concerns or safety-system warnings require specialist assessment; a price reduction does not establish safety. If your existing car meets your needs and a repair is economical, replacing it for extra equipment alone may add cost without solving a real problem.
Questions to send the seller
- What are the VIN, production date, market specification, model year and exact trim?
- What is the total drive-away price, and what is included?
- Who provides this vehicle’s UAE warranty, and will you supply its terms?
- What servicing is due, and are the complete invoices available?
- Are any campaigns outstanding, and is completed work documented?
- Has the vehicle had accident, flood, structural or battery-related repairs?
- Can an independent workshop inspect it before a nonrefundable commitment?
- What are the written deposit refund conditions if the specification or agreed inspection conditions are not met?
Choose the exact car, not a winning badge
The useful comparison between Chinese car brands in the UAE is the car you can insure, maintain, charge or fuel, and eventually sell within your budget. Shortlist by real use, compare total cost, confirm support in writing and inspect the VIN you intend to buy. If a missing answer changes the decision, resolve it before the deposit.
Arrange an inspection in Al Quoz 4
Share the listing, VIN, model year, mileage, powertrain and available service history. Auto Repair UAE can confirm the inspection scope and model support before an appointment. Mention any warning lights, accident history or battery concerns so the required checks can be discussed.
Questions buyers still ask
Which Chinese car brand is the most reliable in the UAE?
This guide does not establish a reliability winner across ten brands. A defensible comparison needs model, powertrain, age, mileage, maintenance and comparable failure data. For a purchase today, use the exact car’s records, inspection, warranty and local support rather than transferring one owner’s experience to an entire brand.
Does a GCC-specification label prove UAE warranty coverage?
No. Ask the named warranty provider to confirm coverage for the VIN and supply the applicable terms. Market specification, original supply route and warranty eligibility are separate questions. Keep the written confirmation rather than relying only on the advertisement.
Does a roadworthiness pass replace a pre-purchase inspection?
No. A pass relates to the checks performed for that test. A buyer may also need maintenance history, body and structural assessment, supported diagnostics, battery checks, equipment testing and repair-cost estimates. Compare the scope of the reports rather than assuming they answer the same questions.
Should I reject a car because it has a recall?
A recall alone is not a brand ranking or an automatic rejection. Establish whether the VIN is affected, what instructions the manufacturer gives, whether the remedy is available and whether completion is documented. Follow any use restrictions while the campaign is outstanding.
Can an independent garage service a Chinese car?
It depends on the model, job and workshop capability. Routine maintenance, programming, calibration and high-voltage work require different resources. Check the service procedure, parts specification, diagnostic access and warranty conditions for the exact vehicle, and keep itemized records.
How do I compare new models with little resale history?
Use several conservative resale scenarios instead of a single confident prediction. Check comparable vehicles and obtain current dealer purchase offers where possible, while recognizing that these cannot establish future value. If the budget works only with an optimistic resale figure, consider a lower purchase price or a model with more relevant market evidence.
Is the longest warranty automatically the best deal?
No. Compare the provider, covered systems, mileage limits, exclusions, service obligations, transfer rules and claim process. A longer headline can still leave the component or use that matters to you outside coverage.
