What to budget for Borgward repairs
These are planning estimates for the described work, not fixed offers. The model, fitted equipment, parts source and access affect the total. Confirm whether VAT is included and ask for the final payable total before approving work.
Oil and filter service
AED 550 to 950Specified engine oil, matching filter, installation and basic inspection. Additional filters and overdue maintenance are separate.
Scheduled major service
AED 1,200 to 2,400A vehicle-specific list of due filters, fluids and spark plugs, with labor. Ask for the itemized list; this is not an all-items package.
Front brake repair
AED 850 to 2,200Front-axle pad work, or pads and discs where required, with fitting and checks. Disc replacement changes the total; calipers are separate.
AC diagnosis and repair

Engine rebuilding, gearbox overhaul and electronic module replacement need an assessed quotation. It must identify the damage, repairable components, parts source, installation, fluids and any programming. A diagnostic fee is not a repair price.

Check the smaller repair first
Coolant keeps disappearing
A pressure test can locate a leaking hose, tank or connection. If the leak is accessible and the engine hasn’t been damaged, replacing that component may be enough. Repeated top-ups leave the cause unresolved.
The gearbox hesitates
A harsh shift doesn’t establish that the entire gearbox needs replacing. Check the reported behavior, fluid leaks, electrical supply and relevant data before deciding whether an external repair or internal assessment is justified.
Power drops under acceleration
Test the air and boost system, ignition and relevant circuits before quoting a turbocharger. Boost is the extra intake pressure produced by the turbo. A confirmed hose leak may be a separate repair.
If internal wear is confirmed, compare a defined rebuild with a compatible replacement. Include removal, installation, fluids, testing and written warranty terms in both totals.
BX5 and BX7 need different checks
Record the version before ordering
Start with BX5, BX7 or BX7 TS and the year if you know it. The vehicle identification number, or VIN, helps narrow down the build, but the installed component may still need checking.
Borgward’s Chinese-market BX7 TS specifications describe a turbocharged engine, all-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic. Those details should not be assumed for every Borgward or every market.
For a driveline vibration, tell us whether it follows road speed or engine speed. On an all-wheel-drive vehicle, the assessment may need to include the rear driveline as well as the transmission.
Choose the check that matches the fault
Warnings and starting trouble
A battery or charging fault can affect several systems. We check the supply and relevant circuits alongside the scan results. Computer diagnostics explains the initial investigation.
AC fades in traffic
Compare vent temperature, pressure and fan operation. A refrigerant leak needs locating before a recharge can provide a lasting result. Compressor replacement is only one possible outcome.
Braking or suspension noise
Measure pad and disc condition and check for joint or bushing play. A bushing is a flexible mounting that controls movement and vibration. Replace the confirmed worn item where the surrounding assembly remains serviceable.
Maintenance is due
Match oil, filters and other due items to the exact engine and service record. Our car service options cover routine work; a warning light or oil leak needs its own assessment.
Avoid ordering a part twice
A low component price is less useful if the connector, mounting or calibration is wrong. Before ordering, the quote should identify the part number, source and condition, plus any setup needed after fitting.
Compare genuine parts where obtainable, identified aftermarket alternatives, or a documented rebuilt assembly. A used part needs a clear condition and return agreement. Availability is checked for the actual item, not promised for the whole brand.
For an electronic module, confirm programming access before paying for the part. If the required function isn’t available, replacing hardware may not finish the job.

Yes. We assess BX5, BX7 and BX7 TS maintenance and repair concerns. Parts supply and access to the required diagnostic or programming function are checked before accepting work that depends on them.
What is free and what is chargeable?
The initial workshop condition review is free. Focused computer diagnosis is estimated at AED 250 to 550. Extended testing, dismantling and repairs need a separate agreed scope. Confirm the final VAT-inclusive amount before approval.
Do I need to find the part first?
No. Tell us the model and the problem. We can request the VIN and inspect the fitted component when identifying a replacement. Buying a part before diagnosis can leave you with the wrong item.
Can I use a part from another BX7?
Only after its number, specification and required setup are checked. Matching appearance or the BX7 name alone does not establish compatibility. Electronic parts may need programming that must be confirmed before purchase.
How long will the car be off the road?
Timing depends on the diagnosis, parts delivery and final testing. Ask for separate estimates for workshop time and parts waiting time. We do not promise a collection date before those are known.
Are you an authorized Borgward dealer?
No. Auto Repair UAE is an independent workshop in Al Quoz 4. Factory warranty decisions, campaigns and restricted software functions are outside an ordinary independent repair quotation.
Can you collect a Borgward that will not start?
Ask about free pickup and delivery when arranging the visit. A vehicle that cannot move, steer or brake safely may need recovery instead. Explain its condition and location so the transport method and any recovery charge can be agreed.
