Checks that explain the fault

Car Inspection and Computer Diagnostics in Dubai

Warning light, starting trouble or a car that does not feel right? At our Al Quoz 4 workshop, the free first check includes a discussion of the symptom and an initial look at the vehicle to recommend what to check next. It does not include a computer scan or a full condition inspection. A scan is estimated at AED 145 to 285 before VAT; 5% VAT is added to the written quote. We explain and price any further testing before you approve it.

Costs and inclusions

Diagnostic and inspection prices

These are estimated AED prices before VAT for the checks described below. The written quote adds 5% VAT. A scan, a general condition inspection and deeper fault finding have different prices because they answer different questions. We confirm the test and price before starting. Parts, repair work, dismantling, programming and calibration are quoted separately unless the written estimate includes them.

Computer scan

AED 145 to 285

Supported-system scan, available code and status review, and an explanation of the recommended next step.

Warning-light diagnosis

AED 240 to 525

Initial scan plus focused electrical, visual or operating checks for one warning or related system.

Electrical fault diagnosis

AED 335 to 810

Testing time for power, ground, wiring, connector or battery-drain checks. Repair labor and parts are separate.

General car inspection

AED 240 to 475

Agreed visible condition checks, dashboard review and a basic road-behavior assessment when safe.

Pre-purchase inspection

AED 430 to 855

Broader inspection, computer scan, road review and condition findings. Specialist battery, body or dismantling checks are separate.

Intermittent fault testing

AED 475 to 1,145

Extra testing time when the symptom needs cold-start, warm-up, road or repeated observation.

Free first workshop inspection

The free first workshop check covers a short discussion of the problem and an initial look at the car to recommend the next check. It excludes a computer scan, a full general or pre-purchase condition inspection or detailed fault testing. Those paid services are explained and quoted before they begin. Free pickup and delivery is available; a dedicated on-site inspection can be arranged, with any separate fee confirmed before dispatch.

Symptoms we check

Symptoms we investigate

Tell us when the problem happens. The same dashboard light can have several causes, and some mechanical problems produce no fault code at all. We choose checks from the symptom and the car’s condition, then explain what the results mean. If brakes or steering feel unsafe, the car is overheating, or it will not move reliably, call before driving it.

Warning lights keep returning

A light that returns after clearing needs more than another code reset. Stored information, current status, voltage, wiring and the operating condition must be compared so the next repair targets the cause.

The car starts only sometimes

Intermittent starting can involve the battery, charging system, starter circuit, key recognition, fuel delivery, sensors, wiring or engine condition. Testing while the event is present is most useful.

Several systems show faults together

Multiple warnings can begin with one shared supply, ground, network or battery-voltage problem. A system-wide review can prevent several unnecessary component replacements.

Power drops under load

Airflow, boost, fuel pressure, ignition, temperature, exhaust restriction and transmission behavior may all affect acceleration. Live data helps only when it is matched to the driving event.

A fault appeared after recent work

Disconnected plugs, disturbed grounds, incorrect parts, low voltage or lost settings may be relevant. Tell us what changed and when the symptom began. We can inspect without assuming the previous repair is responsible.

The car feels wrong but shows no code

Noise, vibration, steering pull, fluid loss and mechanical wear may not create a diagnostic code. A physical inspection and focused road test can be more useful than scanning alone.

Find the right starting point

Choose the right diagnostic check

If a warning is new and the car drives normally, a scan may be the starting point. A returning fault or change in driving needs targeted tests. A general inspection reviews vehicle condition; buyers need a broader pre-purchase inspection.

01

Computer scan

Checks available codes and system status when a new warning appears and the car otherwise drives normally. We explain what should be checked next.

02

Fault diagnosis

For a returning fault, no-start or change in driving. Measurements and physical checks help confirm the cause before parts are chosen.

03

General or pre-purchase inspection

A general check reviews accessible condition items. Buying a used car calls for a broader review of mechanical, electrical and body condition; see our pre-purchase inspection options for the full checklist and workshop or on-site choices.

Understanding the result

A fault code is a starting point

Computer diagnostics can retrieve available fault codes, status information and live data from supported vehicle systems. That information narrows the investigation, but a code often describes the system that detected a problem rather than the component that must be replaced. The technician should test the conditions that can create the code.

The next test depends on the symptom. Battery condition, wiring, fluid leaks, pressure, temperature, mechanical wear or a safe road test may give the missing answer. An electrical warning may need power and ground measurements; a brake or stability warning may also need a physical brake check.

How we inspect your car

  1. 01

    Describe the problem

Record the driver’s words, dashboard message, recent work and operating condition.

  2. 02

    Check driving safety

Active pressure, temperature, brake, steering or high-voltage risks change the route.

  3. 03

    Review stored information

Read supported systems and preserve code, status and live-data context before clearing.

  4. 04

    Measure and inspect

Use electrical, fluid, pressure, temperature, mechanical or road evidence as required.

  5. 05

    Agree the next step

We explain what we found and quote any repair separately. After approved work, we check the original symptom again with a suitable test.

After the checks

Your diagnostic findings

We explain what testing confirmed, what remains uncertain and whether the car can be driven. Relevant codes, measurements and photos support the findings when available. If more access or testing is needed, we explain the reason and price before it begins.

Our inspection and handover standards describe how observations, recommendations and approvals are recorded. An intermittent fault may need another stage, so the handover also states what to watch for next.

Intermittent problems

If the fault comes and goes

A fault may appear only on the first start, after rain or at a particular speed. If it does not happen during a short visit, we distinguish “not reproduced” from “no fault found” and tell you which checks were still completed.

Tell us when it happensNote the warning, driving condition and recent work. A dashboard photo or a video made safely by a passenger can help.

Keep the evidenceLeave stored codes in place where possible. Clearing them can remove clues about an intermittent event.

Agree the next testCold-start testing, a controlled drive or observation is planned around a specific question. We agree the testing time and ask before extending it.

Common questions

Diagnostic questions

Does a fault code identify the failed part?

Not always. It identifies information recorded by a system. Supply voltage, wiring, connectors, fluid, pressure, mechanical condition or another input may create the same code, so confirmation tests are needed.

Can you diagnose a car when no warning light is on?

Yes, when you can describe the problem and we agree what to check. Noise, vibration, leakage and intermittent behaviour may require physical checks or controlled reproduction rather than a stored code.

Should I drive with a brake, steering or overheating warning?

Call us before driving when braking or steering is affected, the car is overheating, or it cannot be controlled reliably. We can discuss safe transport and the first checks.

Should codes be cleared before the appointment?

No. Clearing codes can remove status and event information that helps the diagnosis. Photograph the message and leave the stored evidence intact where possible.

Is a vehicle inspection a guarantee against future faults?

No. It records the condition found within the agreed checks and access at that time. Concealed, intermittent and future failures cannot be eliminated by one inspection.

How much does a car diagnostic check cost in Dubai?

A computer scan is estimated at AED 145 to 285 before VAT. A focused warning-light diagnosis is AED 240 to 525. Deeper electrical or intermittent testing costs more; we explain and quote the test before it begins.

Is the free inspection the same as a computer scan?

No. The free first workshop check covers discussing the symptom and an initial look at the car to recommend the next test. It does not include a computer scan, full condition inspection or detailed fault testing. We explain and quote those paid checks before starting.

What should I send before booking?

Your model and a short description of the problem are enough to start. A photo of the dashboard message and details of when the symptom occurs are helpful if available. Tell us if you think the car is unsafe to drive.
